In separate cases two unregistered gas engineers have been sentenced for putting tenants at risk in rented homes.
In the first case an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that he worked on warm air units when he was not competent to do so and not Gas Safe-registered to do the work. In the second case a gas fitter from Walsall received a suspended prison sentence after he fitted a hob at a house in Tamworth when not on the Gas Safe Register.
Both cases emphasise the need for thorough Screening and due diligence on all contractors and suppliers. It also once again emphasises the link between fraud and Health and Safety.
